Programme 2014 2015

Thorpe Hesley Brass Band Needs You.

We need more members. We have got the instruments. We just need you to come and join us. We meet on Sunday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Community Centre.

So, if you have always wanted to learn an instrument this is your opportunity.

No age limit as I joined aged 41.

Please contact Wendy at http://www.thorpehesleybrassband.co.uk/

Dear Councillors,

We have two competitions open at the moment, the 2014 RMBC garden competition and Write Around Rotherham, a short story competition.

Garden Competition

Open to council tenants and leaseholders, this offers prizes in each of the seven AA areas (for under and over 60 years of age). There’s also a prize for the best balcony and one of the winners will be judged best garden overall and will win an additional cash prize plus a trophy. The closing date is 30th June.

Write Around Rotherham

Open to all residents of the borough, irrespective of age or tenure. Entries must be original works and be no longer than 1000 words. A cash prize is available and the entries will help us showcase some of the creative talent in the town. The closing date is 7th July.

Copies of leaflets for both competitions are attached. If you would like to run off a few copies for use in your areas, Councillor McNeely has suggested this is a good, non-political way of getting talking to residents. There is a very limited stock of hard copies but if you are unable to print off the attachments and would like a few, please let me know and I will arrange to have some sent to the Town Hall for you.

Write Around Rotherham

Best wishes

Local History Group

Here is the Thorpe Hesley Local History Group Programme of talks.

Support Dogs

Support Dogs are similar to Guide Dogs and as such they need "Puppy Walkers" to teach the dogs the basics. I know that there are a lot of dog walkers in Thorpe Hesley and Scholes. If you are interest please contact them directly.

Here is their leaflet.
